Hands of Hope: Faith in Action
Hands of Hope began as an informal fellowship of members from Atlanta North Church, who felt called to carry the spirit of charity into the streets of our city - Feeding and serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness and vulnerability. The ministry includes about a dozen active members who serve most weeks, plus an additional 10-12 supporting members who participate periodically or contribute supplies and financial support.
Why We Do This Work?
Thousands of our neighbors sleep on Downtown Atlanta streets and in shelters each night, and Christ’s call in Matthew 25 is not optional — it is a call to action. We exist to close the distance between the pews and the pavement by putting faith into practice, showing up faithfully, and serving our neighbors with grace.
What We Do?
Every Sabbath following worship service, our team travels to Downtown Atlanta to serve our unhoused neighbors with food, water, clothing, toiletries, literature, prayer and above all compassionate presence and dignity.
Where We Go: Our regular routes include Woodruff Park, the front entrance of the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception, the Gateway Center Area, and other locations where our neighbors gather.
How Can You Help?

Donate gloves, sandwich bags, cases of water.

After worship service (unless there is potluck, then we meet around 8:45 A.M.) to make sandwiches and pack lunches.
Occasionally we call for volunteers via the WhatsApp community board to help sort clothes and take inventory in the middle of the week.
